In production

Work for Money, Design for Love goes to press this week.

The cover spread was one of the last parts to be finished.

Here's a PDF (373KB) if you're curious about the blurb.

It's two-colour — black and Pantone 1805 U — and measures 5.5 x 8.5 inches with a spine of 0.689 inches.

I was contracted to write a book with 218 pages, the same number as Logo Design Love, but at the halfway stage it was obvious I was running over, so the page count was increased to 264. Near the end, I still had too many words, so to afford another page increase, the inside pages were reduced from two-colour to one (black only), and the book has come in at 288 pages. I'm happy with that. We ditched an inside colour but readers get more for their money.

Logo Design Love had a standard 12pt cover stock with overall matte UV and embossing. It's the Pearson standard stock for covers. The interior ran on Pearson's standard 60# Influence text stock.

Work for Money, Design for Love will be finished to a higher quality — special order (vendor supplied) 120lb Utopia II XG recycled with gloss laminate for the cover, and an interior on 80# Utopia II matte.

I'll share a few photos and thoughts when I get my hands on a copy.

In the meantime, I'll keep adding to the book's online resources page. I hope it helps you.
