Polaroid is known for its innovative and sometimes rather strange product launches (and we'd expect nothing less from a company that gave Lady Gaga the role of creative director), but it unveiled quite a mysterious hybrid at CES last week in the shape of the Polaroid SC1630 Smart Camera, a Polaroid camera, yep, but with an Android phone built-in too. Wild.
The device has a 16-megapixel CCD sensor with a 3x optical zoom lens offering 36-108mm (in 35mm terms), so it's a fair sight more fully-featured than your average smartphone camera. To make your photo sharing as instantaneous as possible, the SC1630 has both Wi-Fi and 3G capability, so with a SIM card and you can take a snap and upload it online straight away.
Check out this quick demo from one of the Polaroid team about the SC1630 and what it can do.
