Social Fixer: Solution if you just can't stand the sight of your Facebook Timeline

If you just can't stand the sight of the new Facebook Timeline anymore, you could start focusing on something a little less trivial, or you could try a browser extension to hide some of it.

Unfortunately there's nothing you can do to stop your friends from seeing your Timeline (so getting rid of it is kinda pointless, right?), but if it's actually hurting your eyes then try Social Fixer, a browser extension to hide some (but not all) of the new look Timeline.

First up, go to Socialfixer.com and install the extension, which will work well with most browsers except Internet Explorer. Once you're logged into Facebook click on the new Social Fixer icon and uncheck every box, so you're most likely to see Facebook how it looked back in the good ol' days.

The most important bit is the 'Timeline' section, go check the bottom boxes, which are 'Display posts in a single column', 'Hide cover photos', 'Hide the friends box', and 'Hide maps of check-ins'.

Now go and check how your profile looks, but be warned, it won't revert right back to the old profile, but it will get rid of the features some users have found most irritating, like the cover photo, friends box, maps and dual column view.
