ARGH: Pinterest gets its first makeover with new profile design

Pinterest profiles have all received a fancy new redesign, but are dedicated fans and typography geeks happy with the new layout and slightly different use of fonts?

Today Pinterest has received its first big makeover since it became the number one online destination for pretty photos and holiday day-dreaming.

Earlier in the week Pinterest's CEO and co-founder, Ben Silbermann, revealed there'd be a redesign coming to the platform soon when he spoke at the SXSW conference in Austin, Texas, but we weren't expecting it quite so quickly.

Go and visit your Pinterest profile now (it is Friday after all) to see the new changes. They're not that drastic, but your profile info and default photo are no longer at the side, they're at the top of the page. This means there's more focus on your content, especially the most recent photos you've been pinning, which you'll see appear bigger than the rest.

We're trying to embrace the new design here at Shiny Shiny, but as we're such fans of Pinterest AND huge typography geeks we're not quite sure how we feel about it all, especially the fact the board titles are now all in a rather formal serif font on the main profile page. Let's all take deep breaths now. One. Two. Three.

There's no indication whether there'll be more changes over the next few weeks, but at the moment the profile pages and board pages look pretty different, so maybe boards will get a revamp soon too. Who knows.

UPDATED: We've had a few angry comments, so decided to add in a quick poll. Let us know what you think...
