Tiresome Ricky Wilson Set To Appear In Tiresome Musical Based On Tiresome Record

Judging by the snappy title "Jeff Wayne's Musical Version of the War Of The Worlds: The New Generation", the upcoming musical version of the dreary 1978 concept album is set to be as laborious as it's source material.

Ricky 'Dull' Wilson's recent announcement on Twitter is not going to help, as he informs an apathetic world that he is set to appear in it.

Playing a professional pie-taster, we can only assume based on his fizzog of late.

However, the frontman of the wearingly commonplace and all-but-forgotten Kaiser Chiefs may be in for a bit of a fright. "I'm in the new War of the Worlds album!" He excitedly tweeted, seemingly unaware that it is in fact a rather lengthy touring stage-show based on a soporific recording only enjoyed by the sort of cretins who smell of stale sweat, unironically use the word 'awesome' and earnestly strum on acoustic guitars at house-parties to the dismay of all other guests. And not an album.

Jeff Wayne himself was upbeat about the casting, praising Ricky's "command on stage" – a reference, no doubt, to the singer's widely-admired ability to wear a waistcoat. And hit a cowbell.

Jeff thoughtlessly then went on to praise co-star Kerry Ellis, breathlessly stating that he saw her "in the original production of 'Wicked' in London's West End [and] whose voice and charismatic performance drew the audience to her like a magnet" which is a long chalk from "command on stage" and a bit of a kick in the teeth for moon-faced Rick but stuff him – he thinks he's only appearing on a bloody album anyway.

Further casting news that could potentially lift the whole enterprise above the arid, banal, bromidic, drab, dragging, drudging, dry, endless, exhausting, fatiguing, lifeless, snoozesome, tiring, unexciting, uninteresting festival of lingering piss it is due to become is the fact that Liam Neeson is also appearing.

However, he sensibly pre-recorded his entire part and did off to make Taken 2 or something so as you were.
