Will Young Slags Off Rihanna, As If She Hasn’t Had Enough Trouble With Men

Will Young is a proper grown-up now. He does quirky pop-videos, works with Groove Armada and even appears on popular British politics shows like Question Time. And all that with a slight lisp! How tremendous.

Of course, no-one should ever really have a go at Will Young because he's being fast-tracked to National Institution. Slating him is like kicking Stephen Fry in the balls. It'd be like stealing John Hurt's dinner money. It'd be like upsetting Stonehenge.

Not that this stops Will from vaguely berating people in a kinda sweet, vaguely gathered way, and his target is Rihanna who, in fairness, anyone with any sense is thoroughly tired of her now. So what's the beef?

Will Young does not like Rihanna's lyrics. In fairness to Rihanna, she's never thought about them once. Neither have her fans. They willingly sing 'ella ella ella ey ey ey under my um-ber-ella ey ey' at her shows fercryinoutloud.

However, it isn't the nonsense that Will doesn't like.

Instead, he's criticising the Bajan bellend's lyrics and insisted they are not good for young girls. They're not are they? They're rubbish for young girls. And adults too. So which esteemed, grown-up publication was Will talking to about all this highbrow stuff?

Speaking to OMG! (sigh, really) he said:

"I don't think Rihanna is a massively great role model for women, her lyrics aren't empowering. She's a brilliant popstar and recording artist but her lyrics are not empowering – young girls have to listen to those lyrics."

Now, you may have missed it, but there has been a by-law passed. Young women are now being forced to listen to Rihanna songs.  Will's not done though. He's got a big word he wants to share.

"Women in a patriarchal society should be empowering and owning their bodies; I don't think Rihanna is. I feel quite strongly about this."

Typical. A man telling a woman who she should think. First Chris Brown, and now this.
