Channel 5 Gleefully Urinate On Whitney Houston’s Freshly Filled Grave

No doubt we'll be getting a lot of angry letters about that headline.  So we'll ask you to read it again.  Channel 5.  Not us.  All members of hecklerspray are perfectly potty trained and respectful of burial rights.

Alas, someone at Britain's 5 most popular bog standard telly channel let slip a bit of 'oopsie' in the form of two very badly matched adverts.  It could be a truly tragic error, or it could be the work of a moustache twirling baddie switching tapes around before tying young women to railway tracks.

Whatever, you'll probably blame it all on us anyway.

The YouTube clip, which has 34'000 views, starts off perfectly normal for a Channel 5 ad.  The trailer for Whitney's Addictions: Death of a Diva promises to be the tell-all account of Houston's well known battle with drug addiction, featuring interviews with people who actually took drugs with the singer.  So what's wrong there?  It's standard Channel 5 fayre, dead celebs and the reasons why they're dead.  Where's the wee on the floral tributes?

It's what comes next that will get the "you're just like Hitler" letter writers frothing at the mouth.

After half a second of blackout a slightly creepy face appears.  This rubber puppet is supposed to represent your lovable, but slightly demented Gran.  You know, the one who can get away with being appallingly inappropriate because she thinks it's still 1942.  Apart from digging herself a hole in the garden and shouting about 'Jerry', 'Fritz' or 'the Hun' she's quite harmless.  Usually.

Not this time.  Wonga.com's mad rubber Gran has been allowed to spout off at exactly the wrong moment.  We'll bet Channel 5 regret not sending her off for her afternoon nap.

We're not going to tell you what she said, but it's probably going to get someone at Channel 5 a bit of a telling off.  It's a perfect storm of poor timing and mightily unfortunate editing.  It's so tragically tasteless that it raises both an eyebrow and a guilty grin.

So go on, give a play and remember, DON'T BLAME US!
